The life cycle of paper

It all begins with trees. Trees growing happily in the sun. Weathering the elements, growing tall and strong.
Next, someone comes along and cuts down the tree. They take it to a big factory where the tree is somehow made into paper. All sorts of paper.

They make;

Paper used to print the news.

Paper made into all sorts of magazines.

Paper sent to publishing companies, used to make books.

Paper sent to phone companies, power companies and other public service companies.

Paper sent to schools for school assignments, art projects, report cards, and notes from teachers.

This paper is then transported in many different ways.

Some will magically appear on the front porch.

Some will be left in the mailbox by a trusty mail carrier.

Some will be stuffed into children's back packs.

It doesn't matter where it comes from.
It doesn't matter how it gets here.

Somehow, every piece of paper ever created ends up on my kitchen counter.

Have you noticed also that kids do not care about that peice of paper until you put it in the garbage!? Then you have commited the worst sin ever on the planet and you no longer love them beacuse "If you loved me you would save all the things I make"

And here I thought every piece of paper in the world ended up on MY counter! I think that everyone should just blog everything and then there would be no paper piles at my house! heehee!

OH sooooo know that you don't get all of it. Or maybe you get all for your zip code and I get all of the stuff for mine??

I'm so glad my city has a recycling program so I can at least feel a little better about all that waste!

This really made me giggle. At first I wasn't sure where you were going with it... maybe some friendly reminder about recycling? But the punchline got me. Nicely done.

You need to make Al Gore proud and start recycling all that paper into homemade toilet paper.

I don't know. Maybe 50% ends up on your counter, because the rest is definitely spread between mine and being stuffed in my daughter's toy chest.

You forgot the worst part. Those papers are having hot steamy sex on your counter when you are not looking and are REPRODUCING. Not only that, they can invisibly transport themselves to my office, where further reproduction occurs.

Here's a thought: Give the boys the paper! They apparently have a magical way of making paper disappear. Might as well put that talent to good use!

I agree! 90% of mine comes from the school.I have 4 children who attend the same school they all bring home the exact same papers. Plus each has their own seperate stacks.I can in no way keep it all seperate, or organized.

yay!!!!! I'm not alone! I swear, the stuff multiplies at night while I'm asleep...

So laughing at anon's comment.

It does reproduce.

I think you only have half of it. I am pretty sure the other half is on spread on all my horizontal surfaces.

My husband has papers from college almost 30 years ago. Mom made us take the boxes of his stuff from her attic.

I hate paperwork!

Funny.

And for all the 'recycle' programs out there...

And email makes more paper NOT less!

You should see the crapload that is wasted at my husband's lawfirm. I make him bring home large boxes full of it for our scrap/craft paper. Every note I send to school, has legal mumbo jumbo on the back!
