Look at the size of those McNuggets!!

Max went to his first day of preschool this week, and he loves it!
He insisted that I drop him off at the door, even though the mommy in me wanted to walk him into his classroom and make sure he was OK.
He waved at me and went in by himself.

He was fine!

I was not.

I missed my little Max. It's been over three years since I've really been able to go to anywhere by myself (In daylight hours, that is) so it was strange to be alone. I kept talking to the empty backseat of our car.

I was able run several errands and pick up the other kids from school before we got Max. He was so excited to show us the picture he drew! We still aren't sure what it is, but it's darn cute!

This week Max has been singing the songs he has learned in preschool. I think my favorite was when he sang...........

"At McDonald's has a farm eeee i eeee i oh! At McDonald's has a farm eeee i eeee i oh! At McDonald's has a farm eeee i eeee i oh! At McDonald's has a farm eeee i eeee i oh! At McDonald's has a farm eeee i eeee i oh! At McDonald's has a farm eeee i eeee i oh! "

I finally had to try and move the song along a little bit and I sang "And on that farm they had some......"

Max looked at me blankly.

I tried again "On that farm they had some..............."
(waiting patiently for Max to name an animal)

Max stares.

So I suggest "Did they have any pigs on the farm?"

"No."

"What about cows?"

"No. No cows."

"Sheep?"

"No."

"Elephants?"

"No."

"Well, Max, what kind of animals did they have at the McDonald's farm?"

Max tilts his head sideways thinks for a moment and then says-

"THEY ALSO HAVE SOME DINOSAURS!!"

I think maybe we need to schedule a field trip to a farm.

I definitely think dinosaurs could be on the farm.

Oh! Too sweet. I too, remember that first drive around town with out my littlest. I kept feeling like I forgot something!

All kinds of animals used to live on our McDonalds farms, but now my chickies are too big and they know the right words. What sweet, sweet innocence!

I think maybe it's time to take Max to a farm.

I really LOVE the imagination of little boys!

That is one darling little boy you have there. LOVE his alsos. They make me laugh every time I read them. Glad to hear he's transitioned well to preschool. And maybe they'll start working on something besides the refrain of the children's songs sometime in the next few months...

Maybe it's a really old farm? Jurassic Farm?

You can stop gloating about running errands on your own anytime now, you know...

Come to think of it, aren't chickens somehow related to dinosaurs?

Hmm, I wonder what noise a dinosaur makes. I also would like you to ask Max.

I love this!

So... are you feeling a bit like an empty nester during the time he is gone? I dropped off both my boys at school this week--my youngest entered all-day kindergarten. I thought I was going to lose it. Blogging sure is cheaper than therapy even if I did have to write 3 posts to get it out--and that was just the first part of what will become an ongoing series I am sure.

Have fun at the farm!

Nah, don't tell him. Can you imagine how cool it would be to run a dinosaur farm? Or to visit a dinosaur farm? Let the kid live in a dream. He won't make it to be an adult and still think that.

The Boy starts preschool on Tuesday. My plan for my first free hours in almost 6 years? Sitting on the couch, watching my recorded episodes of Doctor Who and eating Nutty Bars.

But I might need to cry a little...

I am so happy that even though Max has started Preschool that he is still giving you plenty of fodder for posts.

I'm curious - did his dinosaurs make any sounds?

Isn't it funny how it takes US a lot longer to adjust than it does the kids. LOL Love that he sings AT McDonald's... Too too cute.

Ahhhh! Some free time all to yourself!! I sent my youngest to Kindergarten and I'm FREE for a couple of hours anyway.

I think that there were dinosaurs on Mcdonald's farm. Or was that Burger King's farm- chicken nuggets in the shape of dinos:)
