Messy mirrors and sleepy computers

A few days ago I went to lunch with my bloggin' buddies Jo, Bonnie and Amber.

Blogger friends + all you can eat breadsticks. Life just doesn't get any better than that:0)

I brought Max with me to the lunch. He was starting to get a little restless, so I asked him if he could show everyone how he imitates windsheild wipers. He immediately went to his intermittent setting, and then remembered the big mirror hanging on the wall behind him.
He got a gleam in his eye, and I knew he wanted to spit on the mirror so he could wipe it off.
I tried to distract him, and thought I did, but by the time we left, there was a slobbery/fingerprinty mess on the mirror.

I would like to apologize to whichever person at the Olive Garden gets to clean the mirrors.

The lunch was so much fun, and a well needed celebration for the kids being back in school. (Mine had been out of school for 4 whole weeks!)

Not too long ago, CJ and Aaron got our two old computers and took them apart to see if they could get them to work again.
The good news is that they were able to get one of them to work.

The bad news is that they took them apart on the family room floor in the basement, and it made a bit of a mess. It sat there for a while until I got sick of looking at/tripping over it, and told them that everything needed to be cleaned out of the family room.

They got it all cleaned up, and the room looked great!

The next morning I went to get Aaron out of bed and found him asleep on the floor. When I turned on his light I discovered why he wasn't sleeping in his bed.

One of the computer CPUs were sitting right in the middle of his bed.

I told him that he needed to find a different place to put the computer, and he assured me that he would.

The next morning I went into his room to wake him up, and again he was sleeping on the floor. This time both of the CPUs were on his bed.
I explained to him again that he really needed to find a different place for the computers so that he could sleep in his bed. Again, he promised that he would move them.

Yesterday morning, once again, I nearly tripped over him on the floor. He had moved a CPU to his desk (what a novel idea!) but the other computer was still sitting in the middle of his bed, and next to it was sitting our Dirt Devil cannister vacuum.

I think he just prefers sleeping on the floor.

On the bright side, if he's not actually sleeping in his bed, I probably don't need to wash the sheets.

Once my boys hit their teen years, NOT one of them ever actually slept in their beds. The couch has been the bed of choice and still is for the last one at home.

I'm a little surprised you didn't mention how I wasn't at the lunch, and all you could do was cry over the delicious breadsticks, but somehow, you managed to move on.

I know I did that, when I was at my own blogging lunch by myself, at the same time, pretending I was there.

I think my brother did something like that when he was that age! It must be a boy thing. I'm guessing the Dirt Devil was there because he wanted to see if he could take it apart and put it back together again, too....or maybe he needed a part? Am I close? :D

(Sometimes we prefer sleeping on the couch/floor over our 15+ yo mattress at our house.)

My daughter H would rather sleep on Z's floor downstairs than in her nice comfy pillowtop matress bed. I just don't get it!!

LUNCH?! Without me?! I am so broken hearted!! (0;

We recently threw out the cases for several non working pc's However, hubby the packrat decided we needed to keep the memory, graphics cards, network cards, etc. You never know when you can use them in another pc.

Oldest daughter's pc had a virus and would not run the antivirus. So I reinstalled XP on it and the drivers for the gateway motherboard. The built in graphics card and network connection still don't work. At least I don't have to buy a graphics card and network card, as we already have them. :)

Yep, no need to wash any bedding!

Less sheets to wash means, I might in this lifetime get caught up on the laundry.

I'm so glad to hear that others have difficulty getting their kids to sleep in bed. I am always amazed at what they store on their beds!

Maybe the Dirt Devil was to vacuum up those extra parts? You know how you finish a project and there are always extra parts;)

Is this his way of expressing love for these machines? By putting them in his bed and sleeping on the floor? Good training for when he is married and is banished from the bed!
I loved Max before I met him, now I have met him and I love him twice as much AND I want to eat him!

Sorry I couldn't make it to lunch but thanks so much for the invite. *Ahem*

Oh come on, it's a joke. Wait, come back!

I was just reading Jo's post the other day where she was talking about this lunch and your son's windshield wiper talent. I didn't realize that Max left tangible evidence on the mirror at the Olive Garden, though. Funny!

I also have to say that you definitely do not need to wash sheets that are not being slept in. Why create the extra work for yourself? :)

You make the beds? If they don't put their own clean sheets on their bed, they can sleep without any. A few of mine just sleep in a sleeping bag, rather than make their beds.

Thank Goodness, my resident computer genius (husband) keeps the darn things in the appropriate place...I would not have liked to share my bed with the recently revived HP.
Love the windshield wipers! You ASKED him to do that...in a restaurant...with mirrors???
Bless you.
