We got the kids a Wii for Christmas, and it has provided them hours and hours of entertainment and distraction from homework and chores.
The children have come up with a new game of their own! This seems to be their favorite game, and if I had known earlier how well they played this game and how much they enjoy this game, we might not have bothered with the Wii.
What game is this you ask? I will tell you that it requires much skill, a steady hand and an eye for balancing things.
It is the ever popular game called The Stacking Game!
I'm sure you are just dying to know how to play this game aren't you?
Well, here's how to play!!!
The object of the game is to see how much garbage can be stacked in the garbage can and/or how many dirty dishes can be stacked in the sink before someone else takes out the garbage and/or loads the dishwasher!!
Hours and hours of fun for all!!!
I have to admit that at times it can be quite suspenseful, watching the garbage bag stretch almost to the point of breaking, and seeing the precariously placed glass on top of the stack of tupperware, wondering what the last item placed on the pile will be to finally make it topple.......
I am amazed at how good the offspring are at playing this particular game!
There's got to be some sort of career out there where they can use this amazing skill. Someday I hope it will make them all rich and/or famous!

That game is a classic. We play it at my home as well!
Aren't they creative? Ugh! My SIL plays the same game. And then when I go there I say snide, sarcastic things about his mad skills and I get in trouble...whoa! foul! I hope your children will learn the taking out and washing up skills soon. Or the you don't eat until you do skill.
Can my husband play this game?
WE play this game in real life! I find that nobody wins.
It's silly what these people come up with and call it entertainment.
We got the Kinect on the XBOX 360... I have the same problem I'm afraid with kids and neglecting homework...
sigh
Have you ever read "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take The Garbage Out"? It is a good one!!! My kids play it with the garbage, but since I am in charge of the dishes, I am the only one that gets to play. lol.
SARAH CYNTHIA SYLVIA STOUT WOULD NOT TAKE THE GARBAGE OUT
(Silverstein)
Shel Silverstein - 1969
Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout
Would not take the garbage out!
She'd scour the pots and scrape the pans,
Candy the yams and spice the hams,
And though her daddy would scream and shout,
She simply would not take the garbage out.
And so it piled up to the ceilings:
Coffee grounds, potato peelings,
Brown bananas, rotten peas,
Chunks of sour cottage cheese.
It filled the can, it covered the floor,
It cracked the window and blocked the door
With bacon rinds and chicken bones,
Drippy ends of ice cream cones,
Prune pits, peach pits, orange peel,
Gloopy glumps of cold oatmeal,
Pizza crusts and withered greens,
Soggy beans and tangerines,
Crusts of black burned buttered toast,
Gristly bits of beefy roasts...
The garbage rolled on down the hall,
It raised the roof, it broke the wall...
Greasy napkins, cookie crumbs,
Globs of gooey bubble gum,
Cellophane from green baloney,
Rubbery blubbery macaroni,
Peanut butter, caked and dry,
Curdled milk and crusts of pie,
Moldy melons, dried-up mustard,
Eggshells mixed with lemon custard,
Cold French fries and rancid meat,
Yellow lumps of Cream of Wheat.
At last the garbage reached so high
That finally it touched the sky.
And all the neighbors moved away,
And none of her friends would come to play.
And finally Sarah Cynthia Stout said,
"OK, I'll take the garbage out!"
But then, of course, it was too late...
The garbage reached across the state,
From New York to the Golden Gate.
And there, in the garbage she did hate,
Poor Sarah met an awful fate,
That I cannot right now relate
Because the hour is much too late.
But children, remember Sarah Stout
And always take the garbage out!
My children like to play the dish game, but daddy won't let them play the garbage or recycling games. He is very persistent in giving loud verbal persuations until they comply with his requests...
Wait! My kids invented that game first! Dang it, we should have gotten a patent on it!
My kids like the stacking game too, mainly with the garbage. The dishes they play another game with, it's called the spreading game. The object is to cover every possible surface with the thinnest layer of you can possibly get. To put a dish on top of another is a losing move.
Then there's the Gagging game which can be played with both dishes and garbage. The winner is the one who gets Mum gagging when she opens the bin or the dishwasher they stacked but didn't turn on. The spreading game is often played in unison with the gagging game for extra points.
Points are given for who can make Mum yell as she opens the front door on a stinking hot day, after a long day at work "GEEZE CAN'T YOU PEOPLE SMELL THAT?"
Bonus points are given for the time period it takes between Mum putting down the dishcloth after a marathon washing session and the arrival of the first dirty dish.
