Let's take a ride on the potty train

Dear Max,
The time has come for us to rethink this whole diaper thing. I mean really, diapers are SO 2007!
Isn't it about time for you to start keeping up with the current fashion trends. Do you know what all the cool preschool kids are going to be wearing this fall?

Underwear! Big kid underwear! Underwear with pictures of Lightning McQueen and Spongebob!
Just think of it, YOU can be a part of the "in" crowd!
All you need to do is learn the proper way to use that potty chair that we bought you a while back. True, it is very useful as a stepstool, a great storage area for your toy cars, and it's also a fun place to sit while watching television, but seriously, it can be so much more!

Let's do this Max, let's say goodbye to these tired old diapers. Out with the old and in with the new, I say!
What do you think buddy? Should we give it a try? Is it time to catch a ride on the "Potty train?"
Love, Mom

Dear Mom,
No underwear. Diapers. Just diapers.
You change my diapers.
Love, Max

Oh, Jill, I am SO MUCH the same place. Snorkie just LOVES his "cars" undies, and picks out a pair to wear everyday....OVER his diaper. I was using pull ups for a while, but I hate changing those things...ugh. I think I'm going to wait for the nice weather and then send him outside in a long tee shirt with NO diaper. If he pees or poops in the yard...no biggie.
I'll put the "glorified step stool" out there too and give him a reward if he uses it....hey, might work.....

Seriously, let me know how this goes for you. None of my kids potty trained until they were over 3. I've determined that no matter which technique you use to potty train your children the process works likes this: you work desperately hard, your child doesn't get it, you are ripping your hair out and thinking about being committed and your child says, "Oh, you want me to use the toilet? Why didn't you say so?" and begins to use the toilet without further adieu. A.R.G.H.

Reason #762 why we are not having another child: I don't want to potty train.

Potty training stinks. When we have to do it, I just leave them naked for a few days. When they have underwear on, they forget it's not a diaper and they go ahead and pee. When they're naked, they get confused and either ask for a diaper or ask to go potty. Besides, no sense getting all that underwear wet. It works pretty well, actually.

LOL! I'm in the same place, but my diaper child isn't quite two yet, so I guess I can't complain overly much YET.

I feel your pain. My 3 was such a pain. It was like she just couldn't give it up! It was only after much bribing, treats and the cutest panties that they make, that she was able to make the transition. I even think that there were a few prayers offered by her sisters that we she would learn how to use the big potty. It is a fabulous thing-that whole no diaper life. It is fabulous! So my friend, maybe you should try parying for it-it worked for us! God must have a sense of humor-I am sure that he got a giggle out of our prayers, so He will for you too!

Oh, man...we so need to get rid of the diapers at our house, too. Just tonight, we finally got him to go pee on the potty. He was so proud...but won't tell us he's gone poo. Keeps insisting "I juth fah-ted".

think Max and my son have joined some sort of union that has banned the use of potties and underwear. I even let him watch Bob the Builder nearly the entire day, trying to get him excited about wearing his B the B underwear. Maybe if I tell him Bob where's underwear with pictures of my son on them...

I have no idea what the big deal is about potty training. Eventually they will get it on their own. So what if all the other freshmen are pointing and laughing at your son as he enters college wearing diapers, nothing wrong with taking things slowly ;)
Yes, that is sarcasm you hear!

Why does potty training have to be so difficult with some kids. My youngest was so stubborn and it really seemed to take FOREVER!
