Yes, that's me. I'm such a "cool" mom.
Do you want to know why I'm so darn cool?
Because it's 2:00 a.m. and I just finished making Brielle a new dress to wear to school tomorrow for her awards program.
The kids are supposed to dress up, and we decided that it would be fun for her to have a new sun dress to wear.
Of course, if I had started the dress sooner than 10:00 p.m. I would have finished it sooner, and been asleep by now, but something keeps me from working before the sun goes down.
Anyway, the dress turned out really cute, and I would post pictures, but it's 2:00 a.m. and CJ is asleep, and he's the only one who knows how to get pictures downloaded onto my computer. The poor kid gets so annoyed every time I ask him to do that for me. The last time I asked, he looked at me with the face of a teenager that says "seriously mom, could you BE any more technologically inept?" and he said "Mom, you really need to learn how to do this yourself, because some day, I might be gone somewhere, and you'll need photos on the computer and you'll be stuck." to which I answer "You're here now, techno-boy, do your stuff!"
Anyway, back to the dress, as I'm sewing this lovely creation, trying not to burst out in fits of frustration, because I hate using patterns (HATE IT! HATE IT! HATE IT!!!)
But honestly Jill, how do you really feel about using patterns. Don't be shy, just tell the truth.
I strongly dislike using patterns. Probably has something to do with the fact that I don't like being told what to do.
Sorry, lost my train of thought. back to the dress.
As I was sitting there sewing, Brielle and Max were looking through a Prom Dress magazine. (Please don't ask me why I have a prom dress magazine. It's a long story)
Brielle was showing Max the pictures of the dresses, and she was trying to get Max to say "Is she hot?" (like Pedro says to Napoleon Dynamite when he's talking about his (fictitious) girlfriend.) You know, because it's really cute when little kids say stuff like that.
Finally, Max found a picture and said...............
"She also hot!"
Then while looking at a picture of two girls he said
"They cute!"
"They also hot!"
(Turns the page)
"This one also colder"
Apparently, he didn't find her as attractive as the others. I felt kind of bad for the poor girl, I mean if you can't impress a three year old, who can you impress?
Then Max says
"I also hot too!"
Then looking back at the magazine....
"And these ones are also hotter!"
By now, we were giggling, because, seriously, this was pretty cute.
Until.............
"Mama's cold!"
What?
Did my darling little three year old just dis me???
I mean I will admit that I'm not in as great of shape as I was before I had the kids, but come on!
FOUR c-sections people! FOUR OF THEM!!!!!
The first one weighed over TEN POUNDS! 10.6 to be exact!
I have stretch marks up to my armpits!
Who does that little tot think he is...............cold am I?
Then it dawned on me.
I'm a "Cool" Mom!
(At least that's what I'm going to assume he meant)

You made a dress in four hours? Without a pattern? That is most definitely a cool mom thing to do.
You finished the dress at 2 am and then you went and blogged about it? I don't think I could type at that hour.
High-five for getting it done! You are a cool mom!
I had to laugh at your comment description. My friend and I always talk about how blog comments bring us back to high school and it's all about the popularity. Thanks for stopping by mine and making me look popular and better than my friends!
I look forward to reading your blog!
I was going to say that you were cold because you were cooler than cool but you beat me to it. Oh well, great minds think alike!
And, can I say, sewing a dress in 4 hours? Is there anything you can't do? Seriously, sewing, just the thought of it, makes me break out in hives.
I'm sure that's what he meant!! I'm amazed that you stayed up so late to sew a dress for your daughter! I would have run to Wal-Mart around midnight and apologized in the morning...
ok- i am laughing my butt off! I even told my hubby-he laughed out loud! I agree though-cool mom! Or in reality-I am thinking-whatever it takes to make you feel good about yourself!
(you know that I love ya-only words of love)
I would agree you are a cool mom.
I feel the same way about patterns.
I have a hard tm following the rules.
Love it ---- you are too cool for words!
Cannot wait to see the dress.
You rock!
Cool is much better than being the opposite of hot. Way to spin it Jill!
I do the same thing! Last year for halloween I started a costume around 9 PM for my boy and stayed up until 4 AM finishing it!
Being cool doesn't mean that you aren't hot. Remember in school how all the "cool" kids were also the "hot" kids?? So basically you are cool and by default you are HOT!
yes, he definitely meant you were *cool* LOL
I hear you on the stretch marks, I also had a 10 pounder and several 9+ pounders, my belly is very sad looking. My 4 year old told me it looked just like the risen bread dough one day : ] Kids, gotta love em lol
I think you're amazingly cool (cold, even) for knowing how to do that sewing stuff at all. Whenever I sew something, it usually involves lots of tears and too many calls to my mom for help.
Yeah you have to read into these things that kids say. There are always many meanings.
I have some pretty nasty (hot) stretch marks too. I didn't have 10 pound babies but I did manage to gain a good chunk of fat with each pregnancy:(
You know that patterns are just "suggested guidelines", right?
I decided to make the girls new suits for Easter this year...that was a late one (the suits they have on in my profile photo)
The Worst, though, is that I always insist on making something for them for Christmas, and this year it was flannel jammies...3:30 am and I was able to throw them into the wash so that they could wear them to bed on Christmas eve...sometimes, I'm just "dumb" mom.
If only I still had time to sew. There is something about the 9 kids and a full time job (with 3 hrs of commuting time per day and 10 1/2 hours at work) that prevents me from sewing. Maybe if I gave up sleep or eating I could make time?
It's 10:16 PM -- so you're saying I could sew a sundress for my daughter and be done by 2:16? I am SO there.
(Actually not. I can't seem to do sewing all-nighters anymore. Which means I don't sew anymore. So I envy you and your daughter and her super-cool sundress.)
