Um, yay for you?

You Mormon, you! Wasn't glass-grapes making all the rage among Mormon housewives back in the 70's? I think I read about it in someone's memoir - you know, that naturalist whose mother died of cancer? What's her name? Aaagh, I can't remember. She wrote about it back in the 90's.

And I trust you have seen the Weird Al E-bay song? If not, get thee over to YouTube and enjoy!

That comment wasn't anti-LDS, you know; I'm thinking someone may misinterpret it.

My MIL has some purple grapes like those.

I do my best not to decorate like my MIL. ;)

That's a blast from the past. I LOVE it! Were they expensive??

They look delicious! How do they taste?

SC- My Grandma made them for all the women in our family. I Love the Weird Al ebay song!!

Randi- Around $20.00 including shipping! There were quite a few listed.

Kristina- Like dust.

My grandma has some of these! What I want to know is this: does anyone still know how to make these things? I would LOVE to go to a class on that! What a hoot!

So you were the one who outbid me!! You suck :)

A class would be funny! Did you know Sherrie Dew collects those mostly as a joke. I think she has a bunch. Ha, ha. pun not intended. I realized it after.

You paid for those???

I mean, I love 'em...but...dude...I heard you can make them in Release-a-Sidey

Was this so you could find your marbles? 'Cuz I'm seriously wondering....I think "why" is a very pertinent label.

Not that I have any odd dust collectors lying around my house....or possibly in boxes so my children won't break them because then I would cry. Nope.

Yup. You've lost it alright. Did you tell your husband about it?

I won't tell you about the little people set from the 70s I bought, or the my little pony set from the 80s I bid on for my sister (or is it bide?)

Ohh Ohh Ohh! The memories that come flooding back from those cool grapes. I swear my mom just got rid of hers a few years ago and NOW I'm wanting them:( We need a Enrichment Night grape revival.

Oh hey-I remember those! People actually had them in their houses when I was young....They did make them in Homemaking....and maybe they even sold them at the bazaars! (i'm probably the only one old enough to remember the bazaars) Are you having a 70's theme to your living room????

Um I remember those from like the 60's I think... Good for you?

My mom had some of those.

And I am the queen of buying important fabulous junk on ebay, so I can't say anything.

I was not inspired with joy or nostalgia. This is one of those rare moments in which I am dating myself as likely not to have been born when all the excitement about these grapes occurred. I do love real ones though, so I hope the glass ones bring you great happiness.

Yep, those might have come from my Great Grandmother's house. She had those...in purple too. I actually like em, but then again, I'm weird.

Ok, I am not Mormon, but really enjoy reading many Mormon Mom blogs : D I seem to have alot in common with y'all. Anyway, I am a child of the 70's and don't remember these, so was this just a LDS phenomenon? Someone please explain, I want in on the joke : )

Oh, and good n crazy. I have spent at least $100 buying Fisher Price Little People sets on ebay. I had all of them as a child and my mom didn't save them for me, I am trying to recollect them. So far, I have the Hospital, the Driving Camper, and the Fire Station : D

Oh, my mom was talking about those and about how everyone made them at homemaking meeting in the 60s (or 50s?). So my sister found some at an antique shop, and now my mom displays them prominently (but in a decidedly tongue in cheeky way) in her living room. I should get some! I love ebay, too.

Does someone out there still know how to make them? Is there asbestos involved?

You need to figure out how to make them and show us step by step on here :)

Ok, so I'm dense, and not getting the grape/Mormon connection. Add to that the fact that I'm also too lazy to go net surfing to try to figure it out and you have me standing here scratching my head asking, "HUH?" lol!

Enlighten me. Please.
