Christmas tunes

This last weekend we finally went all out and decorated for Christmas. We put up the tree, we got out the wreaths, and we even hung up the stockings with care.
And the whole time we were listening to Christmas music on the radio.

I love Christmas music! (as long as it is seasonally appropriate)

I will, however, say that I don't love all Christmas music, some of it just really grates on my nerves. The kids know which songs just drive me absolutely batty, and when one of those songs happens to come on the radio, they will race each other to see who can turn the music off first.

Because they love me.

(or they just don't want to deal with an irritated mom ranting on forever about how ridiculous a certain song is)

Now one Christmas song I do really enjoy is Max's version of The Twelve days of Christmas.

It's AWESOME!

Mostly because he doesn't actually know the words so he makes them all up on his own. We first heard this song last Saturday, coming out of the bathroom where Max was taking a very long time answering nature's call.
We didn't want him to stop singing, so we all just huddled outside the door trying to stifle our giggles as he sang at the top of his lungs. (I had planned on videotaping him singing this song then posting the audio for everyone to enjoy, however, he has been really sick the last two days and doesn't feel like talking, let alone singing, when he gets feeling better, I'll try to get him to do it)

I'm not going to tell you which Christmas songs just drive me crazy, but instead, I will ask you to guess what they are, then tell me which songs make you want to go throw a fruitcake at the radio. If you want, you can include a detailed description of why you dislike these songs.

I will take the top five songs and put up a survey on my sidebar so we can all vote on the most annoying Christmas song of all time.

Note to my lurkers: I know you are out there, now is the time for you to comment :0)

Also, this concludes my final post for NaBloPoMo. I might take a few days off, or I might be back tomorrow. Isn't it exciting not knowing exactly what I'm going to do?

The one that bugs me the most is the one by Wham... and any remake of it! "Last Christmas I gave you my heart, but the very next day, you gave it away...." ugh!!

I know a lot of people don't like Feliz Navidad, but I love it!

I'm guessing anything by the Chipmunks?
Ha, Katie, my kids love that song by Wham, but I'm with you.

Santa, Baby puts my teeth on edge every time. I'm sure there are others, but that one is the worst.

Sorry Katie, but Feliz Navidad is my absolute most hated song. Mostly because they play it every other song. With fifty million Christmas songs out there, why do they have to play it so much?

Oh Christmas Tree makes me insane. There are so many more worthy topics to sing an "Ode" to... I mean, I like Christmas trees, but the song just seems silly.

"Percy the Puny Poinsettia", "Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer"...

If I had to pick just one song...Christmas shoes. I know, how horrible of me. It was heart warming the first 10 times I heard it, like 10 years ago. Not so much the 20billionth time, this year!

I'm going to agree with TJ, and say you despise anything by the Chipmunks.

The one song that will make me change the radio station immediately is "A wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney. Great...now it's stuck in my head...

We had Christmas music on all day at work yesterday. I had to finally turn it off. It will make me hate Jesus at some point if I listen to it for that long.

My husband detests The Christmas Shoes. I don't like any Christmas song that came from the 80s, which was the decade that music threw up, according to my brother in law. Except, once every five years, I can listen to Feliz Navidad and not hate it.

yep. "A Wonderful Christmas Time" is annoying. And "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart". But if i EVER have to hear Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas Is You" I will go batty.

My most hated is The Christmas Shoes.

But the one I'm most sick of FOR SURE is Feliz Navidad.

Santa Baby grates on me too. Feliz Navidad is up there. I'll be interested to hear what's on your list.

Ironically, I don't mind the Wham! song, because I'm sort of from that generation, and it brings me back.

Christmas ain't Christmas w/out Bing Crosby, so I sure hope your hated songs aren't his.

I'm sorry, but any Christmas song sung by Neil Diamond makes me want to throw up. Ugh. And they play them constantly on FM 100. Ewww.

Happy NaBloPloMo, or whatever the heck it's called.

The Christmas songs that aren't really Christmas songs. You know what I'm talking about.

Sorry ... Dominic the Donkey. You have got to go. And second runner up is Wonderful Christmastime song. It is played every hour on the hour and drives me insane!

I may have been a lurker. Not sure if I commented before. I must have, but the memory is shot like a somethin' or other...

Can't stand "Grandma Got Run Over..." UGH!

My vote for most annoying is Grandma got run over, it was cute the first year but now it just makes me cringe.

Does anyone else love the Manhiem Steamroller albums? My favorite is pat-a-pan. I also love Carol of the Bells done acapella.

My guess is your not crazy about Oh Holy Night although I really like it.

Mine have already been picked!

The Chipmunks and Paul McCartney's "A Wonderful Christmas Time"

I'm totally with Kristina...I can't take it all month long. I will lose my religion.

Um, Barbara Streisand's panic attack inducing version of Jingle Bells.

Maybe John Denver's Please Daddy, Don't get drunk this Christmas.

I gotta go with Danielle on this one...whenever I hear "Christmas Shoes" I throw up a little in my mouth. And they made a MOVIE out of that??? Wha...??

I know the voting is closed, but I have to add the dogs barking Jingle Bells song. Other than that I'm OK with all of them. I even like Christmas Shoes although I will not watch the movie (then again we actually own the Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer movie (Thanks to my MIL!).

All I Want For Christmas is a Hippopotamus! Dumb song.

I'm with Katie - that song should NEVER played anytime. ever! LOL!

Around our house it ain't officially Christmas til Hubby starts singing Good King Wenceslas. Well, it's not actually that song, just the tune - an everything gets sung to it...

We are going to the store
to buy some milk and groceries
then we'll go back to our home
where it is nice and toaties...

No, the songs do not have to make sense and the words can be made up. Like I said before, traditions are important and the sillier the better!!

WV: REDROGOD - Nothing... lol! I cannot think of a thing for this one! lol! Maybe it's the name for WV-definition block?? LOL!
