We don't need no stinkin' Wii

A while ago, when we cleaned out our storage room, the kids found my husband's old Pong game that he had as a kid.
They have been playing it ever since.
We have a Playstation 2 and various other plug and play game systems, but they have been playing Pong.
Last night the kids stayed at Grandma's house, they discovered our old Atari console and game cartridges and brought them home. As soon as we came in the door, they rigged it up to our TV and they've been playing Playing Pac Man, Space invaders and Donkey Kong.

As of now, I don't see the point of buying the Wii, the Playstation 3 or the X box that the kids have been hinting that they would like.

Hey, if they're happy with Pong . . .

I used to rock at the old Atari Asteroids game.

I used to love my Atari! Space invaders and pit fall were my favorites.

I don't think I've ever been as mad at my dad as the day he gave away my Atari. Man, I loved that thing. We had thousands and thousands of games. I may come to your house to play (o:

Does your pong have the "Duck Hunt" game where you shoot the dots with a gun? Ours did. We learned that you could shoot the pong dot while my brothers were playing. It was fun!

You're right you don't need a stinkin Wii cause the Xbox is clearly the only way to go. I LOVE MINE! I stream my instant netflix movies through it on my tv. That alone is awesome. Plus my kids get to do video conferences with their cousins a few states away. Plus I talk to my brother in laws a few times a week (way more than my sisters in law, haha). Honestly I should get a commission I love it so much. :)

Ok ok that aside, you're right those old school games are awesome!

forget the electronics all together. I swear a bunch of old cardboard boxes and a cabinet full of pans will keep them happy until they are 30.

Seriously though, we found an old atari at a yard sale for $5 and the kids have the greatest time with it.

When I was in college, the kids I babysat for regularly had an arcade game space invaders game. It was fun to play/lose without spending quarters.

Ah, Donkey Kong.... I do miss the atari. Many moons ago, I rented a game for a PS1 that had 15 atari games on it. Rob and I had a blast playing.

My sons (now 27 & 30) found their dad's old pong game and had a blast playing it back in the late 80s.

This past November I was treated to a living room full of 18yos playing a very rowdy game of the original Mario

Everything comes full circle. Some day we'll be getting a huge kick out of watching our grandchildren play with our Wii-type games with their old fashioned hand-held controllers instead of their modern mind-controlled games. Yep, it's a'comin. LOL!
